Elim's Youth Ministry Mission Statement:
Elim's Youth Ministry exists to provide all youth opportunities to know Christ because,
"Where two or three are gathered in My Name, there I am also." Matthew 18:20

"Your hearts and minds must be made completely new, and you must put on the new self, which is created in God’s likeness and reveals itself in the true life that is upright and holy." ~Ephesians 4:23-24~

Ahhh! Spring! Every single year, I love and appreciate the days of spring! Every year I love seeing the new green all over the land. I love rolling my car windows down. I love sitting out in the sunshine and feeling warmed by it. The slow shed of dark colors and heavy clothing in exchange for lighter fabrics and softer warmer colors has really grabbed my attention this spring. I’m no slave to fashion, but I’m really seeing the connection this year. Stay with me and maybe you’ll see it, too.

In the Midwest and other areas of the world experiencing all 4 seasons, we learn to love and appreciate each one. There is a multitude of things in our wardrobe addressed to each one. (Yes, guys. Your closets reflect this change, too.) Our weather differences demand the variety. And in general, darker colors and heavier clothing in winter give way to the light fabrics and softer colors come spring.

As I read this verse from Ephesians I couldn’t help but think of the cycle our lives take as we learn and grow in a close relationship with our God. We have times in our life that are dark, that leave us feeling weighed down. Our Wednesday Lent speakers shared times in their life like this. (I’m very thankful for these speakers! All were wonderful and inspiring stories!) With Christ in our lives, we see these dark times get lighter. Not that our troubles are taken away and not that it happens all at once. But it’s a journey. Much like spring every year. It doesn’t happen overnight. We don’t switch our closets over the first nice day. Slowly, we begin to incorporate the lighter colors into our wardrobes each spring. If we let God, He shines the light in our lives and slowly changes our dark and heavy situations into lighter ones.

Fellowship/Service Opportunity: Famine Lock-In

Here is an awesome opportunity to learn what it is like for most people in the world as they have a shortage of food and to enjoy being in the company of friends from Elim and other churches in the Forest Lake area.

How it works: From Friday after you eat lunch until Saturday at 6pm, you are asked to eat nothing. (Drinking fruit juices is ok!)

Time: meet at Elim at 6pm Friday for an evening of fun activities (not too strenuous because you will have less food in your stomach). Then we will head to Elim for overnight sleeping (A game of Sardines before bed!) Saturday will be a few service projects in Forest Lake, concluding our fast with a communion worship service and a dinner together.

Talk to Amanda for registration and more details.

Fellowship Opportunity: YOWSA Prom Night Out

If you are in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade and are not attending prom this year…we have a fun night out planned for you! After we attend Chisago Lakes Grand March, we will be taking you for a night on the town! Come dressed up with a few dollars for a night of fun! Talk to Amanda about registration.

Service Opportunity: Luther Point Clean Up Day

On Saturday, May 5th, Luther Point will be cleaning their camp in preparation for the summer activities. The sign up is on the kiosk in the Gathering Area.
