Get Together Day
for Elementary Students
Wednesday, July 28, 2010
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This will be a day for student, entering 2nd grade through 6th
grade, to get together to play and picnic at Barton Johnson Park.
Students will need to provide their own lunch, beverage, and
sunscreen. In case our day turns out to be rainy, we will be making
crafts, playing board game, and watching movies at church. We need
to have at least six students sign up for this activity to take
place. A sign up sheet will be located outside the Children's
Ministry Office. If you have any questions, please contact the
church office. |
The groups that serve Funeral Lunches could use some additional
help. The larger our calling list is, the easier the job is for
everyone. All members of elim (men, women and youth) are invited to
help. With your assistance, Elim will be able to continue our
tradition of providing funeral luncheons. We are especially hoping to
find one or two individuals who are willing to help coordinate a
group. What does it involve? When a funeral is assigned to a group
(about 2 or 3 times a year), the lead person contacts other group
members and makes arrangements for the food. It is not a difficult job
and experienced leaders are happy to assist as you learn the
responsibilities. Please contact Laurie Carlson at 651-433-5976 or
leave a note in the church office if you are able to help out.

Altar Guild
Seeking New Members Did
you know the Eternal Light uses more than two cups of oil each week?
Do you know how that candle is lit? Did you know Ruth Anderson
cross-stitches every Baptism cloth? Want to find out more? Join us and
find out about lots of "behind the scenes" proceedings. We meet the
lst Monday of the month to plan the next month's schedule, but
attendance is NOT required. Typically a member will help once or twice
each month... as their personal schedule allows.
Can you help? Never fear: rookies are paired with seasoned Altar Guild
veterans! And there are complete, documented instructions for every
task! Please consider joining us. We are in need of additional
members.
Please contact Arbutus Shalander or Peg Simpson for more information.
Pastoral Care and Visitation
Please contact us!
It is our desire to be available for visitation. The church is not
notified when someone is admitted to the hospital. Please have a
family member contact the church office if the hospitalized person
would like visitation. Also, please contact the church office if
you've had a new baby, someone close to you has died, or if you or a
family member would like a visit. Know that pastors are always
available for in-office or home visits as well. |

Prayer Chain
Judy Seekel at 433-5308 is captain of Elim's Prayer Chain. You may
call her with prayer requests.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Have you noticed a colorful shawl hanging on the altar rail every once
in a while? Someone has finished a prayer shawl. The shawl is placed
on the altar rail for a service. During the service as the pastors
pray for those who need God's healing and love these shawls are
included. You will only see them at one service. Then they are stored
until one is needed.
They are many colors and sizes. Pastor Jillene told me
she prays before he chooses one to ask God to help her make the right
choice for the person needing the shawl. A note is attached telling
the person who gets the shawl that Elim congregation is praying for
him or her. They are cozy, warm, colorful and comforting.
Drop the shawl off at the church office when you have
finished. Thank you for the many shawls that have been made. You are a
blessing to others. Keep up the good work.
If you need more information about patterns, color choices, needle
sizes, etc. give me a call Wilma
Schmitt at 433-3536.
