Patio/Courtyard and Monument Dedication - October 14, 2007

The idea for a monument focusing on the purpose of Elim Foundation began in spring of 2007 with an anonymous donor providing funds.
Abrahamson Nurseries provided a design for the patio/courtyard and monument which was submitted to the church council for approval of concept.
Proposal to construct monument and patio/courtyard was approved by council. Both projects would be gifted, patio pavers, wall and landscape by Abrahamson Nursery and the monument by the Elim Foundation, having an anonymous gift for a bronze sculpture, granite base and benches.
Wally Shoop, American Bronze Casting of Osceola was commissioned by the Foundation Board to do the sculpture and Cold Spring Granite to prepare the granite base and two benches.

The sculpture presents three objects: The Christ figure, the globe of the world, and the cross with scripture from Matthew 28:19, "Go make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit." The bronze plaque states, Elim Foundation"s mission: "Sharing God's love through Christian Outreach - 1997 and forever."
The Foundation, whose members are Elim's congregation, was established in 1997 and has grown to nearly a half million dollars in assets after having distributed $110,000 over the past ten years in Christian outreach to over 40 Christian endeavors.
The Foundation will distribute nearly $25,000 this year, representing 5% of its net asset value.
Announcement of a gift of $20,000 designated for Christ's command: "Go unto all nations" is given to prevent hunger and starvation among people the world over. Foundation members and others are challenged to match this gift by the end of this year. When achieved, it would permit an annual distribution of $1,000 for self-help assistance in food production.
