Mary Jo Milbrandt, Watercolorist

Watercolor is the medium of choice for Mary Jo Milbrandt. For fifteen years now, she has concentrated on the play of color and water across paper. Though she leads a quiet sort of life, Mary Jo's artwork is a clear expression of her warmth, wit and vivacity. Mary Jo has an undaunted approach to her subject matter, and is ready to experiment fearlessly. Woodland flowers, strutting roosters, historical homes and playful piglets have all found their way onto her sketchpad.

Mary Jo has a gift for sharing her excitement for artwork with others. She has taught people of all ages, sharing her creative insights and advice. Many of Mary Jo's watercolors are on display at Country Side Arts, (see sampling of her work below) though her award-winning artistry can be admired in various galleries and gift shops throughout the area. Mary Jo is a member of North Star Watercolor Society, Artists of Minnesota, Minnesota Watercolor Society, Phipps Art Center, White Bear Lake Center for the Arts, and the Art Reach Alliance.

Countryside Arts Gallery is also a teaching studio. Students are welcomed into a bright classroom, with an atmosphere that sparks creativity. Mary Jo shares her love for watercolors with beginning and experienced artists alike.
